My Thread Odyssey piece reflects my thoughts on a wonderful trip to Istanbul.
The Blue Mosque, by architect Sinan, set me thinking. A visit to his tomb and other examples of his work, were very profound experiences for me.
The difference in the Turkish tulip with its pointed petals and vibrant colours and how they had inspired Iznik tile designs in the mosque and Topkapi Palace.
The people walking hand in hand in pairs, quietly enjoying being together.
My first colour choice had to be turquoise-Turkish blue to the French. The sky, the water, the mosque!
The silver thread was bought in Istanbul so had to be included! The magenta, orange and bright green I saw in gardens, tiles, carpets, clothing, everywhere.
