Looking Through the Harem Window
This piece evokes the mystery of the orient, the glimpses of beauty, colour and culture glimpsed, but not entered into, by visitors. It was inspired by the glimpse caught of the young lovers in the garden. The ornamental bars, though beautiful, are a barrier to the viewer, prohibiting them from entering into the setting, and the life that the picture promises.
