Autumn Leaves

When I saw the photograph of the statue lying on her back, all alone at the edge of the trees, she looked corpse-like to me. I decided to turn her into a deceased woman.

I used fabric paint to give her skin some colour, even painting her nails to show that she cared how she looked.

Autumn also represents change and the passing of time, possibly death.

Our lady was given shape with the trapunto method, stitching extra wadding behind her.

Finally, some stitch shading over the forest finished the piece off.
